Winter Skin Care Essentials for Glowing and Hydrated Skin

Winter is right around the corner. So what does that mean for your skin care routine? It means it’s time to switch it up! Your skin has different needs from the warmer seasons to colder seasons, which means adjusting your routine, both face and body, to accommodate the change in weather.
Your skin will let you know when it’s time to make changes. Trust me. But why wait until it’s begging for you to do something?! Let’s work on changing our routine now.
I am all for saving you guys’ coins when it comes to skin care. I promise. I want you all to find affordable routines that you can remain consistent with without breaking your wallet. The majority of this list is very wallet friendly. You’re welcome.

Body

– CeraVe Healing Ointment

I recently discovered this amazing product during my last visit at my dermatologist’s office last month. Prior to, I was using Aquaphor Healing Ointment but man oh man! This is a true must have and does not even SLIGHTLY compare to the Aquaphor. My skin feels like BUTTER! Look out for a full comparison review on both products. This can be purchased here.

– Aura Cacia Sweet Almond Oil

If you missed my blog post about this, read it here. And buy it too. Your skin will thank you (and me) for this. This can be used on your face and body, to oil cleanse and as a moisturizer. I personally oil cleanse even with oily skin and I have found that it’s made my skin significantly less oily, and more towards “normal”. Wanna get this now?

– Now Rosehip Seed Oil

Winter can make your skin a little dull because of the harsh weather. Vitamin C combats dullness and luckily, rosehip oil contains high amounts of vitamin c! It is a dry oil which means it absorbs into your skin easily and does not leave a greasy feel or appearance. Rosehip oil does have an orange color and can appear that way on the face, so I would recommend only wearing this at night. You can purchase it here.

– Salux Nylon Japanese Beauty Wash Cloth

If you’re not exfoliating your body this winter…what are you doing?! I’m sure you want smooth and glowing skin in the spring, and the only way to get that is by getting rid of the rough and dry skin that forms over the winter. Slough it all away with this amazing exfoliating cloth! Buy this here.

– Ixora Botanical Beauty Oats Galore Soap

I was actually gifted this product by someone and I fell in LOVE with it after just one use. I have eczema and this was extremely hydrating and helped my itching subside for a few days (which is great during a flare up). Definitely a must have for dry skin and eczema. I saw an improvement in the frequency of flare-ups after using this too, I went from having flare ups almost every other day to maybe once a week while I used this. The cold weather dries out your skin and this is the perfect soap to bring back the moisture. Check out this and the rest of their products here.

Face

– Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel

My all-time favorite moisturizer. Truly. It’s gel based formula is great for any skin type but it is especially great for oily skin. It’s not too heavy at all and it hydrates my skin insanely. I find that some gel moisturizers can be too light for the winter but this is perfect for my dry, normal, combination, and oily gals. The hyaluronic acid in this ensures that your face stays hydrated all day. Neutrogena offers a version for extra dry skin, which is what I prefer to use during colder seasons. They also offer one with sunscreen and in a tube package (Related: Your Jar Packaged Products may be Hindering Your Glow) which is always a plus! Buy this here from Amazon.

– Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner

This is the perfect inexpensive exfoliating toner. You need this in the winter to get rid of all the dead skin on your face and reveal a radiant complexion underneath. If you have oily skin and acne prone skin, it contains AHA/BHA which remove the sebum in your pores and balance out the oil in your skin, which means your face will have significantly less excess oil and fewer breakouts.
It is suitable for all skin types because it does not over dry the skin at all. Use twice daily unless you experience irritation, then use every other day, or only once a day. Find a schedule that works for your skin. This is powerful enough to not be used every day and still produce lasting results. Neutrogena truly did their thing with their pore refining line. Purchase this here.

– LaVanila The Healthy Sunscreen

I’ve discussed why you must wear sunscreen in the winter in this previous blog: Is Sunscreen Necessary Even in The Winter? This is a broad spectrum SPF 40 facial sunscreen that also contains hyaluronic acid which is important for locking in moisture. Not too heavy on the skin but definitely heavy enough to withstand winter temperatures and winds. You can purchase this here.
