Cave of beauty

I followed Lily on Twitter because I enjoyed her skincare tweets and eagerness to share her knowledge. I set up a consultation for my 16-year-old daughter because after going through several brands/products for acne prone skin and seeing minimal results I felt like our only recourse was a dermatologist who I knew would undoubtedly prescribe some sort of oral medication. I’m not opposed to that but I would prefer to exhaust all topical solutions first. It can be overwhelming trying to devise a skincare routine amid all the marketing claims that are made to sell a product. Between that and the high flying skincare hacks on Pinterest, one finds themselves with a cabinet of products that come up short.

The Cave of Beauty online site is nice.  Interesting articles about skincare, makeup etc. Lily’s online scheduling was so easy to navigate. Her site lets you know the price up front. Which might seem like a no-brainer but I have seen some consultation sites that do not.  Her consultation fee is already reasonable but I caught it at a promotional price which was also nice. Payment was easy (PayPal).  The actual consultation (we chose via FaceTime audio) went great. She was very friendly, very professional. Explained skincare in easy to understand terms.  She’s interested in what your current routine and budget are so that she can customize a routine that will be easy for you to afford and maintain.  It is obvious she is passionate about skincare. She gives you a lot of information which may seem overwhelming but you need not feel pressured to retain everything. She sends you a detailed email of product recommendations and explanations of how/why the ingredients work the way they do.  She is open to any questions you might have.  As someone who thinks I’m pretty adept at following instructions, it was nice to know I could still contact her about how to put this routine into action.

We’re only a few days into the routine so we’re anxious for results. I feel like already her skin just appears calmer so I’m optimistic. If nothing else it’s nice to have a routine that’s not just winging it but is founded on research and knowledge of our personal concerns and not haphazardly wasting money on purchases based off the latest internet trend or marketing tool.
