The Serum of Your Dreams: Measurable Difference Collagen and Retinol Serum Review
How I Discovered Measurable Difference
I happened to be in Marshall’s a few weeks ago and stumbled upon their skincare aisle filled with what seemed to be inexpensive gems (eeeek!!). I walked out with this baby and a hyaluronic acid serum that I gave to my sister (you’re welcome, Moreen). Leaving Marshalls I was a bit skeptical because how can one find two amazing serums for ONLY $6 each?! We love an affordable skincare gem.
Measurable Difference’s Claims:
For a topnotch anti-aging beauty regimen, a solid serum is non-negotiable. Get your skin on the right track with this super-concentrated formula. Infused with collagen and retinol, this skin-savior helps restore radiance and youthfulness by replacing dead skin cells, promoting elasticity, and combating acne. Work it into your nighttime routine after cleansing the skin. Your face will never be the same!
The first night using this product, my skin instantly felt plump and had a subtle, from within type of glow. I’ve used this for about 2 months now and I’m absolutely in LOVE. I cannot exactly say if it’s the retinol in this that has caused my dark spots to fade, because I have been using other products specifically for that. I WILL say, it definitely has sped up the process. Retinol works by increasing your skin’s cell turnover rate. By doing this, it allows your skin to essentially purge dead skin cells, and this promotes the reduction of dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and also acne.
Also, I would recommend using this product only at night. Retinol is very sensitive to the sun and becomes ineffective after being exposed to sunlight for too long. Therefore, it would be a bit counterproductive to use this during the day. But it definitely would not harm you if you applied it during the day here and there, just don’t make that a habit.
By far my favorite thing about this is how much a little goes a long way! One drop is enough to cover my entire face. The more I put, the more I had to work to ensure it all was absorbed. Oh, it also absorbs very quickly which is a plus!
This serum has a very light consistency. It’s almost like water, except a tad bit thicker. When it fully absorbs into your skin, it has a sticky but very smooth feel, which is amazing under makeup. It applies a bit slippery but fully dries down after a few seconds. I would recommend patting it into your skin as I received the best results when I did this and it also absorbs quicker this way. You should really be doing this with all products but the way my time/patience is set up…lol. Not happening. Again why this is best to use at night because who has time to pat a watery serum into their skin every morning? Surely not I!
How to Apply:
I applied this nightly right after hydrating. The few times that I used it during the day, I applied it after hydrating but before my moisturizer with SPF 30. It is crucial to wear SPF if you plan on wearing this during the day. Retinol and the sun do not go well together.
Overall, I would give this serum an 8/10. I plan on keeping it in my skincare rotation because it’s that amazing, but I am not a fan of collagen in skincare products because collagen is pointless when applied topically. It cannot absorb into the skin. It’s more for marketing purposes, especially with the sudden rave about collagen-infused products. Also, if you are vegan, you may want to be careful using products infused with collagen. Not only is the collagen unable to absorb into your skin, collagen is often derived from pigs or fish. This article by Beauty Mag Online explains it thoroughly.
For the purposes of anti-aging (wrinkles, dark marks, fine lines etc.), I would strongly recommend this serum. To replenish your skin’s lost collagen over time? This isn’t it. Look into peptides instead which trigger collagen production within your skin. Wanna buy it? Check it out here!
